The Extension of Loving One Another
Taking Sunday’s Talk Home:
In Sunday’s talk we discuss caring for one another.
*Read Colossians 3:12-14.
**Think about what Paul asks us to clothe ourselves with.
***Pray that God would fill you with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience and (above all) with love.
****Every day this week begin by ‘clothing’ yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience and love. ‘Clothe’ yourself by taking time, each morning, to think about these attributes, and making the decision to display these attributes through conversation and behavior, being consistent every day this week. Monitor how your day is affected by ‘clothing’ yourself daily.
Prayer Focus for the Week:
As I begin my day I’m asking for you to fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Heavenly Father, as I clothe myself with compassion and kindness let me think of others and honor them with my conversation and behaviors. Lord, as I clothe myself with humility and gentleness, remove any selfish tendencies or desires and let me care for others by thinking of them with purpose. Gracious God, as I clothe myself with patience and love let my reactions be heaven-sent displays of Your great love. Fill me today. I need it. I desperately want to abandon a self-absorbed, isolated, distant lifestyle. Instead, I desire to care for those around me. Fill me.
In Jesus’ Name…Amen.
Preparing for NEXT Sunday:
Next week: CARE for one another – part II.
Take time this week and review: Philippians 2:4, Romans 12:10, Galatians 6:9-10, Ephesians 4:32, 1 John 3:17-18, Matthew 25:40, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Colossians 3:12. How can we go from knowing each other to loving one another to caring for one another?
