The Five Marks of a Whole-Hearted Follower
During this year, our church will celebrate being in Roseburg for 130 years. Can you imagine? Our church has a been a beacon of hope, restoration and transformation for 130 years. Recently, we began a collection of talks entitled Church Selfie: a Snapshot of WHO we are and WHY we are here. This collection of talks is designed to provide some context in how we answer those two questions: Who are we? Why are we here?
We are a church family committed to loving God and loving others through authenticity, relationships & outreach.
Authenticity: we will be a church family that values a faith and a love worth living every day, not just on Sundays.
Relationships: we will be a church family that values healthy relationships with one another that are worth fighting for.
Outreach: we will be a church family that pursues opportunities to share the Gospel with others.
Based on this vision, our church has outlined what we believe are the Five Marks of a Whole-Hearted Follower of Jesus Christ:
#1 Someone who has ACCEPTED God’s gift of salvation, been BAPTIZED to identify with God and his people and COMMITS to our church’s values.
#2 Someone who worships with us weekly.
#3 Someone who is growing in their relationship with God and with others.
#4 Someone who is giving and serving.
#5 Someone who is discipling others who will also make disciples.
These five marks were discussed at length during our Sunday services. You can listen to these talks from Pastor Daniel here.
In terms of a whole-hearted follower of Jesus Christ, where are you? What’s next for you?
Let’s talk. Let’s pursue being whole-hearted followers of Jesus Christ together.
