Diane first came to Roseburg in 1974. She and husband Terry, who was the Senior Army Instructor of the JROTC program at Roseburg High School, married in June of 1997. Terry and Diane are blessed to be in a loving and supportive marriage. “Between us we have four children and six grandchildren still living. They are a source of joy for us.” Diane became the church custodian in June of 2000. After serving in this capacity for eight years Diane applied for the office position. “I loved the freedom to choose my own hours of work that came with the custodial position, but there came a time that I realized I would like to return to an office position. My training in school was centered on managing an office, and I was ready to return to that position. I love the interaction with everyone who comes through the door, and the sometimes challenging ‘requests’ that come my way. Every day is a new day to serve my church family: what a blessing for me! And, it became obvious over time that it was God’s plan to move me to the administrative position all along.”

Jean was born in Albany, Oregon. Her father was pastor of First Baptist Church. She has lived in Oregon all her life, graduating from Salem High School (now North Salem) and Willamette University with a bachelor’s degree in piano performance and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education with emphases on vocal music and piano. In June 1962 she married Loren Hinkle, who at the time was music director for the Glide school district. She has taught for Roseburg school district and for the last 22 years as a piano and music instructor at Umpqua Community College. She played both instruments at Wellspring Bible Fellowship for over 20 years, has served for short-term ministry for several other churches in the area and came to First Christian Church in August of 1999.
