“The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.”
— Nahum 1:7 (NIV)
Meet Our Staff
Daniel has been a member of First Christian Church since the fall of 2012 and joined us as our pastor in December of 2015. Daniel was born in India and was raised in Southern California. Daniel’s great-great-great-grandfather was the first convert through the efforts of missionaries from Bristol, England. Daniel grew up in a Christian home and knew from an early age he wanted to serve God in any way possible.
After graduating with a Bachelors of Religious Education and Masters of Religions Education from WCBC in Lancaster, California he moved to Oregon. Daniel’s testimony is a strong reminder to us all that God is never finished writing our story and His love for us knows no bounds. He has a strong passion for reaching those who have yet to experience what it means to have a personal relationship with God. He is an avid sports fan and is favorite teams include the LA Lakers, LA Dodgers, Cincinnati Bengals and (of course) the Oregon Ducks!
Darren Dickson has been a youth pastor since 1984, and the associate pastor at First Christian Church since 2003. Darren grew up in Harrisburg, Oregon. From there He went to Northwest Christian University in Eugene, OR, where he graduated with a BA in Missions and an AA in Youth Ministries. Most important, while attending NCU he met his wife Valerie. Darren and Valerie have four children: Danelle, Nicholas, Kyle, and Romen. He believes he has one of the best jobs in the world, and would rather teach youth than do nearly anything else. One of the passions of his life is to help others find and follow Jesus.
Minister of Christian Education
Arlene was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. She is a graduate of Northwest Christian University and Emmanuel Christian Seminary and has served as Education Minister in churches in Oregon and Christian Education professor in Christian colleges in Southern California and Washington. Arlene served as a part-time Christian Education Consultant with Standard Publishing for over 30 years. Arlene loves the Lord and wants all adults and children to have the same experience as a child of God. She works with the Women’s Ministry at First Christian Church as well as the World Outreach (missions) Team and Christian Education Team.
Loretta was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. In fact, First Christian Church is her home church, as she was born and raised in the town of Roseburg. She graduated from Roseburg High School and has a business degree from a business college and has taken early childhood classes. Loretta worked for 34 years as a professional executive/administrative secretary for various Christian colleges. She has volunteered over 32 years in Children’s Ministry areas, specifically with Preschool and PreK and Kindergarten children in Bible School and extended sessions during worship times. Loretta is very active with the Women’s Ministry, Church Library Team, and Missions Team. Her love for Jesus is apparent as she serves Him teaching and working with children and adults.
Diane first came to Roseburg in 1974. She and husband Terry, who was the Senior Army Instructor of the JROTC program at Roseburg High School, married in June of 1997. Terry and Diane are blessed to be in a loving and supportive marriage. “Between us we have four children and six grandchildren still living. They are a source of joy for us.” Diane became the church custodian in June of 2000. After serving in this capacity for eight years Diane applied for the office position. “I loved the freedom to choose my own hours of work that came with the custodial position, but there came a time that I realized I would like to return to an office position. My training in school was centered on managing an office, and I was ready to return to that position. I love the interaction with everyone who comes through the door, and the sometimes challenging ‘requests’ that come my way. Every day is a new day to serve my church family: what a blessing for me! And, it became obvious over time that it was God’s plan to move me to the administrative position all along.”
